Environmental & Sustainability
The local environment of the site is important to us and the local community. We have designed our building to be as sustainable as possible – including features such as rainwater capture, solar photovoltaics. Stormwater from the site is managed with litter traps, separators and a number of bio-filtration systems in place to ensure the water is of an appropriate quality before being discharged to the coast via two outfalls We are focused on doing the best we can – if you find something that does not look right, appears unsafe or does not look well-managed, please advise us via kiaora@manawabay.co.nz.

We are working hard to create a culture of sustainability that will permeate throughout our offering, as well as acknowledge and build on the good work that so many retailers have already undertaken in this space. Many of our retail partners are already well-aware of their impact and making great inroads into addressing the sustainability challenges.
Mānawa Bay has a waste minimisation strategy and this includes managing waste from the dining precinct. Mānawa Bay is partnering with Green Gorilla to manage the many different waste streams arising from Centre activities, including food waste and food packaging. This will be separated at the centre by tenants and with the support of customers streaming their waste correctly using the bin stations that will be located across the Centre.
