New Anchor Tenants Announced

Auckland Airport is thrilled to announce Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein will be bringing their international store experience to the $200-million-plus premium outlet shopping centre, Mānawa Bay.

 

The two large stores will anchor the northern end of the centre with a total combined area of 1,400m2, which is the size of over three basketball courts.

 

They will join other major retailers who have signed up to Mānawa Bay, which include Converse & Hurley, Lorna Jane, Citrine & Co, and two brands with their first ever outlet stores in New Zealand, Swarovski and Helly Hansen, with more due to be announced soon. They are joining the already announced Kate Spade, Coach, PUMA, Fila, Under Armour and Flo & Frankie.

 

Auckland Airport’s Chief Commercial Officer Mark Thomson said more than 60 per cent of the net lettable areas are now under either signed heads of terms or agreement to lease. 


“We’re proud to be sharing a selection of the tenants signing up to Mānawa Bay, it’s an exciting time for this project and the experience this will bring to customers seeking quality outlet shopping in New Zealand". 


“The centre is setting a new benchmark for outlet shopping in New Zealand. It’s creating the ultimate experience for customers and this is proving to resonate with leading retailers, including global fashion houses, athleisure and everyday wear brands,” he said.

 

In 2022 Auckland Airport broke ground on the 150,000m2 site in the north-east of the airport precinct. Construction of the purpose-built outlet centre is on track for opening in the second half of next year and set to achieve a 5 Green Star rating.

 

The two-skinned insulated roof is half-way complete and a third of the concrete shop floors have already been poured, with over 1,000m2 of floor being poured each week.

 

When finished, the centre will have 100-plus retail stores with an easy to navigate figure-of-eight layout.

 

The dining precinct will house 10 dining options, opening onto an alfresco space, over-looking an outdoor play area. It will make the most of its water-facing location and embrace large, light-filled open spaces. There will be an additional three food and beverage options within the centre.

 

Opening hours will be 10am – 6pm, planned outside busy traffic times and with terminal bound traffic being prioritised. Mānawa Bay is also conveniently located near a main arterial route, with access to public transport options and is a 4-minute drive from Auckland Airport’s domestic and international terminals.

 

Mānawa Bay will support what’s expected to be the largest rooftop solar system in New Zealand on top of the 35,000m2 building. At 2.3-megawatts, the solar array is planned to support more than 80 per cent of the centre’s anticipated power usage.

 

Mānawa Bay’s sustainability initiatives throughout the build include optimising resources, reducing carbon emissions, enhancing the local environment and supporting local communities. During construction, the Mānawa Bay project is targeting to divert 90% of its construction waste from landfill. As at September 2023, a total of 89% construction waste had been diverted from landfill.
